Microsoft has fixed the entire original trilogy's matchmaking servers.
- After the success of reviving old CoD servers, Microsoft comes with another good news.
- The original Gears of War trilogy servers are up and thriving.
- Matchmaking shouldn't take more than 2 minutes on average.
Microsoft is coming with all the good news for gamers lately. After old Call of Duty servers were fixed by the Redmond-based tech giant, the games saw a surge in sales on Xbox Store, becoming the top-selling games on the platform.
Xbox X consoles soon followed, and a lot of people reported they were sold out in physical stores. And the good news didn’t stop here. Shadowrun, another old Xbox game, was brought to life. Microsoft managed to resurrect the dead servers, and people once were happy to play this cult game again.
And now, brace yourself, because there’s even more good news ahead. It seems Microsoft fixed Gears of War 1, Gears of War 2, and Gears of War 3 matchmaking servers. So if you’re in for good fun, now is the time to start playing them again.
The original trilogy finally has functional multiplayer servers, with matchmaking that only takes seconds to happen. It seems the Redmond-based tech giant is making a goal to cater to as many gamers as possible. And with this late addition, they might just do it.
Original Gears of War servers are fixed – will they become the top-selling games on Xbox Store?
Truth is, Gears of War 1, Gears of War 2, and Gears of War 3 might just follow the old Call of Duty games’ foot trails. There is a high chance these games will become the top-selling games on Xbox Store for this week, and maybe the following weeks.
A lot of players are obviously interested in playing old games, and this also means that these games will once again experience a wave of popularity. With it, there is also a commercial success.
While this is not particularly a bad idea, it might prove to halt, or at least slow down the development of newer titles in the franchise. There were talks and rumors about the original Gears of War getting a remake, and it will supposedly come to Xbox in the future. And with the original servers being back up again, and needing maintenance, the development of newer games will be stalled.
However, this is just an opinion, and probably Microsoft has something entirely different on its sleeves. For now, though, we should all enjoy so good fun.
