A lot of exciting updates and enhancements are coming to Microsoft products. Besides the Copilot AI assistant and the Dev Home app that we’ve previously covered, if you’re using Microsoft Project and its templates religiously to collaborate, you’re also in for a treat.

As spotted on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap under Feature ID 124954, Microsoft Project has recently unveiled an exciting update for its users, offering a range of new out-of-the-box templates designed to streamline project creation and management.

One of the notable additions to the template library is the sprint planning template, specifically tailored for agile project management methodologies. With this template, teams can seamlessly plan and execute sprints, enabling a more streamlined workflow and improved collaboration.

Besides that, Microsoft Project will also introduce a goals template, empowering project managers to define and track project objectives effectively. This template assists in establishing clear project goals, setting key milestones, and tracking progress towards successful project completion.

But, when will this feature be rolled out, you may ask? And is there any other exciting tool coming in months? Here’s everything we’ve known so far.

What is the expected release date for the new Microsoft Project templates?

The rollout of these new out-of-the-box templates is scheduled to drop in October 2023, with availability across Microsoft Project’s cloud instances, including GCC and Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant). This ensures that users worldwide can leverage these enhancements regardless of their geographic location.

As part of the general availability release phase, Microsoft Project users can look forward to the seamless integration of these templates into the web platform. The templates will be easily accessible within the Microsoft Project interface, allowing for effortless project creation and management.

Not too long ago, Redmond officials also rolled out plans to introduce a convenient new feature called “Assigned to Me” view, aimed at simplifying task management across projects. This update enables users to effortlessly view and update all tasks assigned to them in one centralized location, providing enhanced visibility and control over their project responsibilities.
