Besides the hotly-anticipated Teams 2.0 and its bunch of improvements, Microsoft is reportedly working on a UI enhancement for the call delegation feature on the app. So, if you often delegate a call on Teams, you’re in for some good news.

As we’ve spotted from Microsoft 365 Roadmap site under Feature ID 123753, Redmond officials are working to bring a feature that allows delegates to seamlessly switch between different delegator lines they manage.

The updated UI will also provide delegates with access to the call history for the delegator’s line, offering valuable insights into previous conversations and ensuring continuity in communication. Delegates will also have a comprehensive overview of past interactions (history) to keep up with everything.

But, when will this feature start rolling out? And what does “delegate a call” mean on Microsoft Teams?

What is the call delegation feature on Microsoft Teams?

To delegate a call on Teams means to make someone else answer or make calls on your behalf on Teams. 

Delegates are granted specific permissions to manage calls on behalf of the delegator. These permissions can include making outbound calls, answering incoming calls, transferring calls, and accessing call history. 

To do so, you’d have to set the delegates manually through Teams’ settings – in General, you’ll find an option called Manage Delegates if you’re eligible. 

The rollout of these feature enhancements is scheduled to begin in August 2023, with availability across different platforms, including desktop and Android devices. This release is part of the General Availability phase, ensuring a stable and accessible feature for all Teams users.
